You can basically get any mechanic to check a car for you, as long as the seller agrees to take the car there for you. just show that you are really interested so they don't feel like they are waisting their time.

I like to choose a Honda specialist because they can better tell you hidden conditions on the car. I rang Hondacare up and made a booking that was convienant for the owner. There was no log book and the mechanic was able to tell that the car missed 30000 and 40000 service because a few parts had not been adjusted. Only a Honda mechanic could tell you this level of detail

    hope this helps

yes, mine did miss those two services. All the details of each car is on www.hondaone.com i think. Well my cars history is. Oh yeah, about that 1st to 2nd, holding it to the left seems to make things all good. Though i'm not a fan of wearing out the gates and having a sloppy box.

i thought it was just me with my bad ass shifting that was causing the grind... then i changed the way i shifted........ when going into 2nd gear, put slight pressure to the left WHILE shifting into 2nd. That's it.... it may just be me... or simply a cure... but since then, no crunch what so ever, at ANY RPM...

someone try it, and let me no... i could be talking a whole bunch of bs, or it could just be my tranny being perfect, or me fixing my bad ass driving skills...

oh yeah... if this is a bad thing to do for the tranmission, let me no, huh... haha i could be destroying my transmission thinking its a cure... lol
i only the 2nd gear crunch when the car is "cold". once everything has warmed up (mornally after about 10 min from first start, or 5 min after its been sitting for over 30 min)

i have heard its also the type of gearbox oil you use...
