    Not worth it, Seriously.
Do it once and Do it right.

Melb is quite cheap, so ask around.

yeh i'll try LifeStyle audio - heard some good things about them here...
    i'm in Sydney btw.

Bad thing just happened, for some unknown reason, the key barrel in my passenger door just sinked into the door and dissapeared.. hence i cannot open the passenger door to fix it...

SIMILAR thing happened to my friend's CxI... looks like another niggling issue with the civic

mongoose for sure, iv had the m80g before and atm i have am m20, and m80g although has a heap more of features theres not much diff.
i prefer the m20 easy to use alarm. plus the m80g has 30sec re-arm, which gets really annoying.
i got the m80g done from fairfield car radio, good work but pricey.
i got the m20 done else where alot cheaper with good work.

also the m20 is a much louder alarm.

That's nice for features, but in terms of ACTUAL security and system integrity?

if you mean integrity as is installation and how well it was done - good point. teh M20 will disable one point on the car. that is one unit that needs to be VERY well hidden. when you see it you will understand why.

^^ integrity ,, all based on the installer..

u can install a $2 china alarm with black wiring and it could be better than a mongoose..

i got a question about all these alarms... so once we installed them, is that mean we have to carry 2 remote around? i.e. civic has remote on their key already.... is it possible to program the alarm so that it will activate using original remote on the key?

i dont think you'll need the original remote anymore.
I've got a codealarm, and its really good, you can get them fully installed from JB for $400

Couldn't of said it better myself. I would go with Vision/Rhino/Mongoose expessially the new rhino alarm with built in GSM SMS communication. Much more reliable and useful than a traditional RF 2-Way system.

Viper have alot of wank factor features though, good if you don't care if your car is stolen but want auto-everything.

Although alot of it comes down to the installation. Positioning, Custom Kill Switches, How the steering covers etc are secured. You can have a very average alarm and still have a very secure car if you want to spend a few days on the installation. Also if you get it installed...don't expect it to protect anything. The majority of Auto Elec's don't care about your car's security, they rush the installation and don't worry about positioning. However, they need to make money for a living so you can't expect them too.

For eg. Why would anyone put the Alarms ECU under the dash, steering column or kick panel....that's where the theif is going to be tampering to begin with. Although I can understand its a simple position...it's a risky one. Also having the siren in direct sight in the bonnet at which point it can be tampered with in a matter of under 10 seconds...

Keep it Simple, Install it Hard. You've got time....They Don't
