I'm no expert but whilst I have a basic understanding of differences between SOHC and DOHC, I was under the impression you can't just "modify" the engine per se that easily. Can anyone more technically minded pls elaborate?

(it's times like this where you should've just got the K20)

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can't do it.

Anyway you won't achieve much going to a 1.8ltr DOHC vs SOHC. Plus our ECUs are setup for the SOHC ivtec along with the drive by wire system of these civics.... so would need a aftermarket ECU + tune I'd be guessing. The R series is new and I don't think alot has been done with them.

K20 transplant + ecu (from FD2 I suppose). So not worth the effort/money - will cost less to sell up and buy a FD2 - not that they are that impressive powerwise given they inhereted the somewhat-mighty K20.

If you want to go fast in a FD... and be unique... get a place to custom a turbo kit for you (plus tune $$)- I'm guessing 7-12k..

Even better bet would be to sell the FD and buy a older civic (EG/EK?) to do up... as you seem to want to go fast in something that just isn't capable of it atm.

19" chromies aren't going to help much.

Sorry not sure if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me. I should point out that its only my opinion and that I haven't driven a FD2... but the specs on paper don't look fantastic (compared to what the japs squeeze out of their K20s). But I'm sure its lovely to drive

just thought it would be intresting to let u guys know that the fd2 is actually slower then the fd1 from 0 - 100 because of its weight....cant find the article now but it was on drive when they did a test drive of all the vehicles such as focus and corolla and golf.

and also i got some new mods yay...haha

Same i just installed my start button on the weekend, works fine now.

I see... theres no point going to DOHC. I want the K20 because you can mod it much more then the R18 and its cheaper to mod the k20 then the r18 aswell.

Oh wells no cam changes for me then
