    Unhappy CEL Coming on... Help

    Hey Guys,

Firstly I have a 1996 Honda Integra VTI-R which has done 190,000kms... beautiful car!

My Check Engine Light has been coming on intermittently, however, it is occurring more often now, nearly after 5 minutes after every time I start the engine. When the light comes on, the idle goes from around 800 to 1500. So its guzzling the fuel at the lights. I spoke to someone about this and they said since the ECU cant get the temp of the engine, the choke turns on.

I have done some diagnostics which shows error code 6, which I believe is water temperature sensor. But what do I do now? Honda want $115 an hour to look at it and since I'm a Uni student, I really don't have the money. I was going to replace the part myself which costs $94 but I'm scared that wont fix the problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Kyle

Ok I have fixed the problem. It was a faulty Water Temp Sensor which is located in the engine block. After replacing it with a new one, no problems at all!!

    thanks!
