Removing sump plug - kinda of urgent
Well, im trying to change my as its abit old, and will be boosting soon (probably 2-3k KM) and just want to change the oil for now, but i cant remove the sump plug.
It feels like there is no way in hell its coming off, can any suggest a way of possibly removing it?
It is so solid, and impossible...
-
not impossible
lol
use a long ring 17mm ring spanner.
or use your using a ratchet and socket, hit the ratchet as hard as you can with your hand, or use a breaker bar.
or jerk on it hard.
lol.

Lol i tried. I have them like bullshit sockets that are with like 18 edges, not just 6.
And no long ring spanners ><
I keep pulling it hard but cos of the 18 thing socket or w/e edges it got, it keeps falling off, and im worried about rounding the nut.
The 6 edge sockets and spanners i have stop before 17 -_-
And iuno what a breaker bar is exactly... is it just using another bar for leverage ?
-
okay, DO NOT put constant force, use impact, so do not pull on it constantly.
yes a breaker bar is like a long hand with the head to syou can put a socket on it.
-
breaker bar is like a ratchet (but it doesnt ratchet) and about 15 inches or so long, for undoing tight nuts/bolts.
you can get it undone,if your multihex spanner is slipping then do yourself a favour and go buy a six side one before you round the sump plug off and get into a whole new world of trouble.get a longer one,the longer your bar/spanner is the more leverage you have therefore you can get the same result with less effort.
-
mmm fuk... only 6 side-ed (lol) ones i have are open ended....
-
Go buy a single 6-sided socket. $10 is better than having to drill out the sump plug or damaging the threads.

Hmm well, i actually found a 6 sided size 17.
Its like a tube with a hole in the middle.
So i gently hammered it onto the plug, (so it was on nice and tight)
I put a LONG screw driver in the hole and pulled, but it always falls off, like 1 edge is round ?? I cant use my other hand to hold it (but it doesnt feel like that wud help, it always just slips off one edge (not a round corner, the edge?) because its too low. But its not a good idea to jack it up and try remove the plug, is it ?

if u round the nut, just use a wise grip plier
clamp it on tite and use your hands and tap it open
VTEC+Turbo=dirty underpants

Yea shit. looks pretty rounded too me now. too bad i cant buy a new plug at this time...
Well not that round, but enough that theres no way a 6 sided can get it off. It actually seems to be rounding my 6 sided...
Im thinking of some choice works atm
(and their not nice ones)
Do places like auto-one sell new plugs? -_-
-
go to any honda dealership, they should stock em.

Eww, those are crap. Get a proper one with a 1/2" square drive. Don't worry about damaging the plug. Go get a new one (and a new washer) at the dealer tomorrow.
