ratling noise coming from rear wheel area

all of a sudden today when i took my car out, there was a rattling noise coming from the rear hub/wheel. i looked around the hub and there some loose piece behind the disc. it in line with the caliper/brake on the other side. would anyone know what this peice is as i would like to know before taking it to mechanic as i dont want to drive the car to far

i think the peice you are talking about is your heat shield, just try and bend it away from anyhting that is potentially coming into contact with it

is the heat shield the thin peice of material (like insulation material) as i cant find any on that side (i had look on other side) and the piece im talking about is a metal piece that at the moment i can flick with my hand.
