You raise a good point, and really, only time will tell. The hard drive in the G4 is rubber mounted (good soft neoprene rubber), but I still think enough vibration would kill it.
One idea is to replace the internal hard disk with a Compact Flash card (+ IDE Adapter). CF cards are up to something like 8GB now (heaps of room for the OS, etc) and you could then mount an external USB hard drive in a more vibration friendly manner to store your music, etc.

Thanks for the detailed response mate - much appreciated . Agree the G4 is much 'cleaner' than the usual custom options.
Interesting about the info on the resistive lead for volume control on the G4 (could save some $$$ for others like me planning on doing similar!) - didn't know that was available given the G4 info on the web. I think I saw a wiring diagram for the Euro's OEM system somewhere on this forum... So short of buying a workshop manual, I'd be interested to see if you actually ended up using the Car2PC interface...
Regarding the extra screen - I'm now planning to use the area above the centre air vents for an extra screen - I didn't know there was space until one4spl included the pics (thanks!). Wonder if anybody has experience in this area and know of any kits? Ahhh, something to fill in the time at work tomorrow...
Now I just need to convince the missus that this is what the baby bonus should be used on... my kids will love watching Wiggles in the car in a couple of years... surely yeah? hahaha
Thanks for keeping us posted - looking forward to your end results and any other advice!

you are right the kids love watching the wiggles but you have to remember you will have to stuck with wiggles everytime the kids are in the car, thats what she does to me now, I never got any chance at all to listen to my own music ....... but still its good to keep the kids quite
BTW I have already done this long time ago for a friend, I reckon thats the only way to do it properly if you want to install double din

I picked up a manual for $10 of eBay, worth every cent! See http://cgi.ebay.com/HONDA-Accord-Eur...QQcmdZViewItem
Here's the wiring diagram for the audio system, you can see the resistive-ladder network for the steering wheel controls.

have you installed it yet steve? Australia day was 3 weeks ago and im really interested in how it turned out
I'm thinking of getting that double din kit and one of these (probably kit 4) http://www.mechatroniks.com/wrx/ordering.html
A mini ITX motherboard should be able to fit behind the screen and then the only problem would be the location of a dvd drive.
Otherwise i might mold a lilliput screen into the compartment with the door being able to cover it.
Also my dealer had no idea about the double din kit , They told me some custom audio specialists might have them though. will have to check some out
edit: how much did the double din kit cost from USA?

Hey All,
Sorry for the lack of updates, not much has happened in the past few weeks. I have finished dynamat'ing the front doors, and ran some of the speaker/amp. wiring.
Also, my external USB sound card (Gigaport AG) arrived last week, however i've ran into a couple problems during testing. 1) Resuming from standby, Centrafuse will no longer work with the card, I have to restart Centrafuse to get sound. 2) Sound is only coming from the front left and right channels. I haven't had any time to look into either problem yet.
I'm actually in the US at the moment on a work trip. When I get back (24th Feb.), I plan on taking a few days off to finish the installation.
joycetick, the double din kit I got is a genuine Honda kit, but it seems Aus. Honda dealers are unaware of it. The kit was ~AU$70, without shipping (I got a friend to bring it back for me)

Sorry Forgot some detail.
The Double DIN kit for the Euro in AUS is meant for the MP3 or Cassette Player, but you can purchase the Facia part seperate.
They cost $86.63. Very cheap for all the parts you get with it.
I will post pics of my facia kit soon.

There's a couple of old threads on this - found one which might be handy: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/archive...p/t-20825.html
I know of ones made by SoundGate (SNHOND3 - see http://www.logjamelectronics.com/sounsnhond3.html for a description, but google around for a source) as well as a company called Car2PC (http://car2pc.com/compatibility_full.html#honda) - part number there is CAR2PC-HON1. Both these fit directly into the OEM head unit (no satnav) with no mods reqd - you just need to hit the CD/AUX button to activate once you've installed it.
As for actually sourcing these modules - you might need to google / ebay around (and look in the parts for sale forum on ozhonda), I think it's pretty hard to find a source in oz...

jb_buzz, your my savour! *kisses feet* :P
now i just need to save up some cash
Also i can vouch for the Car2PC, I got the usb + 3.5mm shipped from USA for ~AU$130. (http://indashpc.org/new/products.html)
the usb allows me to control winamp/windows media player on a pc using the steering wheel controls and headunit.
here is the one you want
http://indashpc.org/new/aux_adapters/car2aux-hon1.html
US$59 + US$30 postage = US$89 = ~AU$95 (according to xe.com)
