They got the award for being “ahead” of their competitors. But this is F1, how do we know what there building.
Plus, rules are changing like made, so the gearbox for 2 years time might be against the rules.
Either way, it’s good news for once to David Richards.

Its still only allegged... Honda have not said anything, although Tokyo motor show is important fro honda, that's where they usually release anything likely to be released....

I dunno how well you can rate individual gear boxes - I say you can only judge a box by how well it performs - ie, hoe often it survives a full race... and since ferraris finished more races, and had less gearbox issues......

Doesn;t makle a whole lottta sense to be - the best one is the one that doesn;t die

sure havent heard anything on it recently but i know they planned on it being a ferrari beater, i doubt they would have just canned it

Having the best gearbox doesnt' make a difference... Ferrari is still going to win again

I think the BAR box is sweet, CF for the main structure and bulkheads and bonded titanium inserts for all the bearing and suspension joints.
These things weigh less than 40kg (including the suspension), thats very good when you consider theyre pulling 18k+ and 1000hp through the internals, that sounds even better when the gears that they are using are only around 9mm wide!.
