if you go lower than 2 inches then yeah you pretty much need shortened ones or ride quality will get dodgy.but if your only going say 1 and 1/2 inches but planning on getting new shocks anyway then you should get shortened ones.pretty much when you lowered its advisable to get lowered shocks, just if you want a cheaper option its possible to not change shocks if you arnt going past 2 inch, will ride ok,just your stock shocks would wear out faster.
yeah im pretty sure both are at repco,if not find monroe on the web or phonebook, find a stockist and you will get what your after

yeh, mite aswell get new shocks considering my shocks have done 100000kms already anyway.
thanks for the help man!
hope that also answers ur questions autonoob!

yeah thanks guys.
i got one quote from wholesalesuspension, but even though their websites shows monroe their cheapest package is KYB shocks (front, rear) and front and rear cambers installed for $1100.
Guess that price is not too bad.
I will call up Castle Hill Good Year, Repco Westmead and castle hill exhaust, they do suspension as well.
I dont have the tools to install shocks/experience so i need a garage to do it and charge that excess 300 install labour cost

the Best option if you on budget, just go to jap import wreckers (ill do that) hips, coilover, oem + everything
second hand but they still good depend on how you shop around and check, because sometime people just change suspension and got accident, who knows?? :
or find people sell private ( for example marketplace section or tradingpost, the place for bargain)
for installation just find friends or mechanic or doityourself

Personally i would avoid second hand. Having been burnt in years gone past by some old coilovers from a wrecker ~ and ofcourse the effort to get a refund it wasnt worth it.
Get brand new if you can. IMO get some replacement shocks to simply suit your car and your lowered springs ( monroe/pedders are ok - look at atleast koni red's to suit.
Try US EBAY - there is sellers on there that will do a very good price SHIPPED to your address , for a deal less than locally sold. Only issue is warranty.
-
so where can you get koni reds here ben?
is there a great difference in reds over monroes? performance, comfort and price wise?

koni reds are a good replacement shock ,(for your car) they have adjustable
damper too so you can stiffen the bound for your more lowered ride.
Locally , pm a guy "mcchook" on this forum (matt) and see what he can do .,

Only problem with us ebay is some places wont ship to australia....
just email/contact them and say Hi im from australia and want these (butter them up a little) and it should cost around 100usd to get it here (or atleast thats what ive seen)

recently found a deal for 200 for kyb agx rear shocks. any suggestions on good springs with these? ive read some things on em and they seem to be good all around. as good as konis? so im thinking of getting these with some springs for the rears and leave my front till later...

I wouldn't be so sure about that. 2 inches is a fair bit lower than stock. If I was a betting man i'd almost put money on your roll centre dropping more than the centre of gravity. You might notice slight improvement in body roll by the increased spring rate of the lowering springs.
