number plate costs in nsw

now its been a while since i changed my plates, i've forgotten how the associated costs work

ordering is $30 for most plates
yellow plates are $35
white bordered is $70
annual cost for black on white customised is $90/pa
annual cost for other colours with customised range from about $130/pa to something ridiculous like $430/pa

now when you rock up to the rta to get the new plates and a new sticker i believe its another $25?

now with the annual fee is where i'm a bit confused
say my rego starts on jan 1st and i've got regular customsed black on white plates, in this case i've already paid it plus the $90/annual for the plates

so i order the new plates for $30(silver on black, $130/annual), rock up to the rta to surrender my old plates and buy the new rego sticker for $25
when do i pay the annual cost of the new plates?
when jan 1st comes again or when i get the plates swapped over?
or do i pay the difference($40) between the old and new plate?

i think all u hav to pay it the 40$ difference
frm what i remember i had colour plates then swap them for white ones it they didnt charge mee

You pay the difference when you get your new plates, I've done this not so long ago myself for two different cars.

pay the $30 ordering plus $25 for a new sticker and $130 when the rego comes?

say for example u get ur plates six months before ur rego runs out...
and ur plates are worth 130.
when u go to get ur plate all u pay is 75 dollars for the plate because u are paying 6months worth of rego on the plate if u get what i mean.

plus the 30 dollar ordering fee
