IF you could b bothered - research around other forums and see if they use a similar single block / hover option to what you say. Im sure a hack out there exists. At the end of the day its a majority vote.
The current system with the 90 days and 1 PQ point works alright. It's just that people turn that PQ point green block thing into some popularity contest, which is silly. It's an internet forum, everyone is an equal. I am equal to you, except that I am not allowed to swear/attack/troll, and also have to clean up the threads where there are swearing/attacking/trolling occuring....
I wonder if there is a way to totally hide those green blocks from view, while keeping the PQ system in place.
Eactly! Hiding the Green blocks is pretty easy. I guess one reason we have them displayed from the start is to get people used to it / spread the word.
You can still see if / how many PQ points you have in your UserCP.
this is completely left field... but i wonder what would be involved in charging to advertise goods.... that would certainly change everyhting... and make some money to maintain the site and compensate mods perhaps.... or co-ordinate OH activities
The focus is not the money, that can be a nominal amount like $5 or something, but that would be one hurdle for people who just want to come on and sell... If the idea of a seperate area of the site is combined with this can be good for the site and the people who put so much effort into it...

Ozhonda is not run for profit. Mods don't get paid and the ramifications of getting paid to mod would be huge (both from a taxation perspective and from the backlash from members who feel that mods are not doing the work that they are being paid for).
