I'm back!!
Hi All
Due to work commitments (including some o/s travel) I haven't been able to dedicate any solid time to my install, however I have slowly been progressing things.
Firstly, a BIG FAT WARNING, the Double DIN kit I sourced in the US is NOT compatible with the RHD Euro. Believe it or not, there is one bracket that is different between the kits, everything else though looks identical. So, I ended up having to pick-up ANOTHER Double DIN kit. A big thanks to jb_buzz for sourcing the RHD version through Honda Australia. Dunno what the guy was on that originally told me it wasn't available!
Because i've only had the time to do little bits here and there, i've been driving around for the past month with just about all the panels out of my Euro, including the boot and back seat.....this has sucked! I just felt depressed every time I got in it... ;-P
I haven't got the time to give a step by step guide, but i'll post as many photos as I can. Please feel free to ask me any questions!!
Sound Deadening (Dynamat)
I've completely sound deadened the inner and outer front door panels. This was a slow and agonising process, but definitely worth it! When you compare the difference between tapping on the front door and rear door, it's like the difference between tapping on concrete and a tin can.

Speaker Spaces/Mounts
Spacing the SPZ-60's required alot of stuffing around. You basically have to space them so the basket is just off hitting the door, otherwise the speaker will protrude to much and the inner door panel wont fit back on correctly. If you get it right, everything fits real nice. I ended up buying these brackets (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330105020813) off eBay, disassembling them, cut a 12mm spacer from MDF and glued/screwed it to the bracket.

Tweeters
The Boston tweeters fit nicely in the factory locations. I used some 3M double sided tape and a little hot glue to keep them in place.

Hey Euro Steve,
You look like your having fun there demolishing your interior
I'm sure once its all done it will look great.
Question - Any possibility that you could teach me how to make a wiring harness like yours. It looks exactly like what i want. I am hooking up a Kenwood Headunit, exact location as yours using same kit etc.
Am i presuming correctly that your Main Euro OEM head unit (blue) Male plug will plug into the female and then your male into the OEM unit?
Or is it using the AUX socket?
Reminder i want to keep full control of my OEM honda unit, i have a Car to PC AUX adapter, for my Audio to come from the Kenwood unit.
Hey Cutch, thanks again for you advice, looking at your pics on myspace, your car is very very nice. Would love to see you car, gotta head down to the gold coast today, my car is getting serviced and a couple of fixes. Had a brand new air con unit put in as my other one ceased up, now there is a tapping noise coming from the engine drivers side, its only there when Air con is on and happens when i am ideling. Plus front doors rattle on bass, so seeing if they will fix that for me.
Talk soon
Cheers
John

John - a company called Metra (http://www.metraonline.com) make the plug/sockets you are looking for to make the wiring harness extension - Metra's part numbers are below:
- 71-1721 - plugs into OEM headunit
- 70-1721 - plugs into OEM wiring harness
(OEM Honda/Acura 1998-2006 Radio Wiring Harness)
Suggest you google/eBay around using the part # - eBay has them for around US$1 from several shop fronts (you will pay much more for postage though!).
Hope that helps,
Ken
EuroSteve - I know this thread has the wrong title now but keep the pics coming mate, they're interesting and helpful too (at least for me - thanks).

in slightly confused by all this.....
are you still able to use your factory deck (ie its not just there for show) and subsequently, does the controls on the steering wheel work?
cheers
(sorry to bring up an old thread)

Hi All,
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I was planning on finishing off the install this week, then this happened... -> http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87086
Anyway, here's a quick update of where things are at:
- The G4 is in and all the dash is back together
- I did have a problem with the G4 resetting when cranking the engine, so i've run a dedicated wire (constant 12V) to the G4 from the battery. This seems to have fixed the problem. I also think my battery might be a little sad.
- Still trying to sort out a few issues with the USB soundcard. Centrafuse doesn't support 4 channel output, so i'm working on some code that i'm going to send to the Centrafuse developer in hope that he'll include it in the next build. (Centrafuse uses the BASS library).
- All the speakers are in and tested and sound friggin awesome. No hiss what so ever.
- The amp is wired, but still just sitting in the boot, I need to mount it under the parcel shelf.
I'll try to get some photos tomorrow and post.

No worries! PM me and i'll give you my mobile number, happy to chat. Basically I just ordered a male and female harness of eBay and relied on my trusty soldering skills to solder it up. I posted the Euro radio harness pinouts in another thread.

In my case, the factory deck still has power, but it no longer has any speakers connected to it. It still needs power for climate control, etc, but basically now it's just a glorified CD holder.

Nice setup - very spine rattling bass as well.

Hey Atjo,
What brand are those monitors and where can i get them? Also where did you get the double DIn fascia? The audio shop in Perth used soft plastic for mine and now it has warped.
