coolant leaking

came back to my car after work to find my car leaking coolant. i dont know how. all i know that its recent because i can see it still wet. and there a large patch too but it was dry due to the hot weather. i has work at 6 in the morning and got back to the car after two. does anyone know what could have happened.
drove the car home with water. at the moment it seem fine. hasnt leak at all.

A hose may have split,check all coolant hoses.This commonly happens if you overfill the reserve tank.
Are you sure it was coolant and not from the aircon?

yeah im pretty sure its coolant. the liquid that came out is green. so you reckon it a split hose? how do i find it? why does it happened?

Get a good torch and get in thier and check all the coolant hoses for splits.You should be able to find the green coolant where it has leaked out,just look for that.Mine was Honda coolant,blue in colour,so it was easy to find.Then just replace the hose.
When the engine is cold it's ok to fill it up to the maximum level in the reservoir but not when the engine is at running temp as the coolant is going through the engine,so by filling it up to the max level your over filling it,which causes the hoses to expand and split.

is it still okay to drive, its fill with water. probably buy hoses here from one of the trader. (blue hoses for $128). till then would it be okay to drive?

make sure its topped up before you drive away, wouldnt recommend driving it
like that for too long if its got a leak large enough to make a huge puddle its
near busting point, maybe when u start it up first thing just let it warm up
then have a look under the car to spot where its leaking from.

you should have checked it for leaks whilst the car was still warm and pressurized (if it still does). If you cannot locate any leaks I suggest you drive it to a radiator specialist and get them to do a compressing test (cheaper + faster than most workshops) keep an eye on the temp gauge and never under any circumstance loosen the radiator cap whilst the car is hot, unless you know how without scalding yourself.

b4 U drive,when it's coll,check the coolant level in the radiator (take the cap off) and top it up

Totally agree..

I would go to the mechanics get it pressured test... and find where the leak is throughout the hoses.. this will find the source of the leaks and know which one you have to replace, But I would be caution driving on hot and heavy traffic days.. Could cause your car to overheat.
