is there two kinds of superchargers ludecrs?
-
Honda has never released a boosted car, except for the Fit Aria. and the upcoming turbo diesel engine i-DETEC
even the new S2000 CR is still an NA motor.
-
Theres quite a few actually, but primarily there are 2 popular ones on the market.
Comptech / Paxton
Vortech
Entering the market at the moment is also Kraftwerks, widely known aka as Jackson Racing.
There are also a few other smaller companies out there, very little is known about them - like the BRP Hotside company.

Thanks for the responses guys. I guess the few that have the supercharger installed were once offs. I was just wondering if they still were covered by engine warranty and stuff since fitted from the factory new. Theres two for sale on carsales at the moment.
-
Well, if the Comptech kit is installed by your dealership, warranty still applies. If not, it does not.
The 2 that are for sale have been for quite some time.
The silver one is overpriced, and the yellow one was a trade in. It was previously advertised at about $34K privately.
If you wish to go the boosted route, be prepared to fork out big dollars...... My S/c kit owes me about $3K second hand (which was a bargain buy!!), and its not even installed or tuned yet... its still sitting in the garage, along with the standalone AEM ECU, worth about 1/2 as much again...
When I have mine installed, you're welcome to come for a spin since I know you live kinda local at Calamvale. That way you can make up your mind if you do indeed wish to go this route.

counting the silver makes it three. Theres 1 yellow 2001 in the dealers and 1 yellow in the private section.
Hopefully by mid week i would of gotten rid of my lude. Hope it doesnt look like im copying you! haha Im still on the 350z vs s2000 debate going on in my head but i will definately come check out your car before i purchase anything.

I drove both on the same day back to back.
The 350 had the boat load of torque, but also had the boatload for handling.
I found the S to be a more enjoyable drive all round - but don't let my words persuade you
I'm not back on the road for another 2 months, so I hope you've made up your mind by then lol.

Well I really dont really mind about the power and all that. Both will have more then enough for me. Its more the everyday lifestyle living, how long i can keep the car, and reliability.
Just not sure how many times i will be driving with the top down to make it worth it. I think i need to just sit in an s2k and 350z and play around with them for abit.
-
ahhaha i'm having the exact same battle as you...
i wanted a 350z and nearly brought one but someone outbidded me, then i found a white s2k and i brought it since i couldn't resist WHITE in excellent condition!!!
i full love the way the car drives after having it for 2 weeks, but i'm still deciding if i should sell the s2k and get a 350z afterall since it does look a lot more meaner and more powerful... but the s2k handles sooooo nicely.... even compared to the dc2r and s15 i used to own with aftermarket coilovers!

Hi vtc,
I'm new to the forum, having recently bought an S2K. So, i'm glad my first post might actually be useful to someone, instead of me asking for help. I test drove the car which you posted a link to on carsales, a couple of months ago. It was then being sold privately, and the guy was struggling, and ended up selling it at auction- guess this dealer picked it up and is reselling.
Despite them saying its factory, the supercharger was fitted by "The Brock Shop" in brisbane. So I can confirm that this is NOT factory. After seeing the car, I decided to go with something more stock (and that would be my advice to anyone)- the S2K engine works pretty hard as it is- this had done 100,000 highly stressed kms. If you do decide to go supercharged, be real careful in test-drives to look for how the engine is affected- i noticed that (on that car) the supercharger does give great extra torque low down, but it doesn't get along well with vtec, and has a really worrying vibration around the 7000+ rpm... You've gotta drive a few normal s2ks to get a feel for em first, but something to look out for.
Hope that helps, and sorry if it was a bit long winded.
