head to www.onecamonly.com, more american physics professors there that focus on d series motors, they can point you to a whole entire build if you want, plus theyre mostly americans, and americans know way more about carbs.
i think for a d15 (like ours), you shouldnt go any smaller than an internal diameter of 36mm if you want more power and response throughout your entire rev range. 40mm are good for streetable power and insane response, which is why i chose 40mm. but choose 45mm if you plan on going for balls out power down the track. remember if your carbs are too big, you can always choke it down, but if theyre small, you cant bore them up.

not telling, but it involves a semi-quad carb setup, and lots and lots of compression.

haha, i wish i was in nsw too, more tuners there know what theyre doing than in sa.
i think webers are the easiest to get into because pretty much any carby tuner will know how to work a weber. but for yamaha, i'd recommend finding a manual and trying it yourself, or getting a tuner to help out. apparently motorbike carbs are more finicky to tune initially, but they never max out (cos hey, theyre designed for 1200cc bikes at up to 13krpm) and they respond much much better. but it may be costly because you'll need either custom manifold, or bike manifold with adapter plates.
im still learning about mine. skracing died in its butt late 80s early 90s so i dont have much support for mine, but it helps that its a hybrid between weber and mikuni.
at the moment, im running in my freshly built motor with factory carbs. once everything's good, in go the new skracing carbs. im not expecting too much, but bisimoto, an american tuner specialising in d15b motors, he thinks i can get 170whp out of it easily (i'll be happy if i break that 100fwkw barrier). i kinda believe him, he's got a d15b motor with a similar setup that managed to run a pb of 9.510 seconds down the quarter in a honda insight.

fark me dead...
aye mate, i heard u can use the zc sohc cams on the d15b...do u know of any other oem cams we can use...i know bisimoto has a few already built but i was hoping maybe something more accessible rather than constantly shipping from the US

not too sure about cams, apparently people like the cams from the d16a6.
im using a bisi stage 2 cam with kms complete titanium valvetrain atm, and with an untuned motor, power flies from 4.5k to 8k, even with factory keihin carbs, it was enough to keep up with a 4g93t fwd. im hoping with a bit of tuning, maybe a degree more advanced cam timing, more ignition timing, and leaning it out a bit, might get the powerband from 4k-8k. my limiting factor is my $17 ebay 4-2-1 extractors.
check out www.onecamonly.com for more info, guys there know much much more than me. im just learning from them. plus fjdistributors is a sponsor there, which means yay for cheap rebuild kits. like p29 nitride coated pistons with slim 3 layer metal head gasket plus water pump, entire engine gasket kit for $300 + $50 shipping (USD). kms titanium valvetrain is good for 10krpm, and will set you back $600 + shipping (pricey, but you dont want to cheapen out valvetrain). stage 2 cam was like 225 + 100 for cam core + 100 shipping. but bisimoto is really nice, and if you tell him what kinda setup you want and what you're building, he can do custom cams for same price as a regrind (to a certain extent). he can also give you a rough idea of how to tune the motor for best performance as well.
you could also choose the other route and get one of fjt's turbo rebuild kits, with their custom rods. i think he was one of the first to run turbo with vitara pistons, and he managed 240whp with a stocko block (aside from vitara pistons obviously).

here's a link to a page with a vid of bisi's quad carburetor honda insight doing a 9.52 pass, i think he's using an F22 engine in this model. his 1.5L in a crx clocked up a pb of 10.77, i wish i had that motor.
