Engine rev's high when starting car

    Hey guys,
When I start my Euro and put it in reverse it feel's like the accelerator has been pushed automatically..
Hard to explain but it seems it's reversing for me and all I need to do is put my foot on the brake.
Is this normal? Or is something wrong? The engine rev's just over 2000 so dunno if that's normal or not when you just start it.
    Cheers

thinking the same thing as Aaron, my euro revs alittel higher in the monrings or night when the engine is cold, and yeh when u put it into reverse it is more eager to go then usual, i dont think its anything unusual, just the engine warming up, i do think the euro engine warms up pretty quickly compared to my previous cars.

Yeah it's just when I first start the car in the morning or arvo when I go to work, Haven't tried it any other time yet. I heard the engine rev's when the ECU resets it's self, wasn't sure if it could be that.

My revs have a mind of its own as well, when the engine is warming up and I reverse while the clutch is pushed in, it will momentarily go from say 2000rpm to 2300rpm, then back again after a second, then stay at 2000rpm until changing into 1st.

Same thing happens when the engine is warm and idling, after a few seconds it goes from 650rpm to 900rpm, then back down to 650rpm for the rest of the idle.

It seems like the ECU may be doing something in terms of emissions

very normal. more revs (within reason of course <~2K) mean the engine warms up quicker and not as easy to stall on start-up.

lol my Civic used to cold start at 3000rpm, FITV needed adjusting.

but yeah off course the Euro keeps the revs at 2000rpm+ to warm up the engine. What Delta-one is talking about is the RPM increasing above 2000rpm when the car is put into reverse (i think lol).

lol Yeah, can't really explain, I start the car up (doesn't matter when or where, just tried it out and about today) and it rev's to just over 2000rpm, put it into reverse and it just wants to go, then I reverse and put it into drive and it wants to fly again, then after a few seconds it settles down..so must be warming up?

    It's an auto btw.
