good point i understand your perspective. This is the discussion area after all.
Dont let previous mistakes cloud your judgment. If you notice someone is actively trying to be in our discussions or trying to help out ( with CORRECT info) then they by all means deserve a + rep.
If they say one good reppable thing and they haven't been too active before , they can sit on red for all we care.
yeh fair enough
just that ive seen a fair few ppl with red boxes lately, lol

I'd like to add is the PQ system still being used as much?
To me the fad of handing out points is over. Hardly anyone hands out anymore everyone seems to be sitting on same amount of blocks as they did 6 months ago. Is everyone over the PQ system?
Also, what ever happend to the idea of hiding them?

It is because the people who find the posts helpful are newcomers and they do try to give points. Because of the minimum point limit before you can give actual points, it just turns up as a grey box. But it is still listed in UserCP.
hey guys, dont think this has been mentioned b4....
is there a way we can find out precisely which posts a user has been given a neg rep point for?
maybe this way, a user with a red box isn't automatically dismissed as a useless spammer? it might add an element of objectivity
say, if u click on the red box, it links u to another page containing more links to all the posts the user has received neg rep for
it doesnt have to show the name of the user who issued the neg rep, just the post, to help ppl decide accordingly if a person with a red box deserves a +ve PQ point or not
just an idea, its prob too complicated on the vb/html programming side of things....
I see what you mean but unfortunately it's not possible. Ben makes a good point that you should treat each post based on merit (and not on the users past comments).

It is still being used. It's just harder for a user to become a member / hand out points now because of the clowns that abused the system awhile back.
The hiding of the blocks is on my to do list. Just haven't had any weekends free of late.
actually is there a way to highlight a post if its been neg repped?
for example with the posts above theres this darker blue line.. maybe a red colour and the reason for neg rep?
i know i don't wanna be liable for wrong info i've given thats been corrected...
***EDIT***
or posts that are neg repped get hidden, i'm not sure if vB has the function but certain Naruto/Bleach sites i've noticed have this "Spoiler" button... you have to press it to reveal a post.
a neg repped post would be automatically hidden, but in case anyone wants to read it they can unhide it?

^ Nope. Not a feature of vBulletin and if it was we probably wouldn't implement it either. Sorry.

That's just a code like [quote] that hides certain text - vb doesn't have any plugin to auto do that on neg post - and if it did... everyone would just give negs on posts they didn't want showing. - what difference, if post is that bad - mod will delete.
Really wish I could post in parts for sale section though >_< no damn points.
