    Left channel loses volume intermittently

The left channel on my amp will lose volume for some reason. The problem is recurring without any pattern. My setup basically is:

I have a 5ch amp, i check the wiring connected to it and everything seems to be connected snuggly. I tried wriggling the wires coz i suspected it to be a lose wiring but that doesnt seem to affect anything.

I haven't changed anything in my system which may have lead to the problem either.

my guess would be wiring, but you would think that would affect the front or back, unless you are running seperate rcas for left front, left rear, right front etc, like if its a surround system..hopefully not something internal with the amp.

Yeah sounds like the wiring is loose, unless the Amp or the Head Unit has dry joints on the PCB/connector.

Have you checked the RCA's behind the Head Unit?

No i havent checked any wiring yet besides the RCA & speaker cables on the amp. It might be the wiring on the speaker because the tweeter doesn't lose volume when the mid-woofer does. If it is to do with the amp or H/U then all the speakers on the left hand side will die together. Knocking on the grill brings the midrange speaker back to life .

I better hope it's not the speaker cone nor the x-over circuit.

Definately a connection,if knocking the grill turns it back on.I had the same thing.Sure it's good to bash something but you soon get tired of it

Are the speaker wires clipped to the speaker or soldered?

as beeza, teh mechanic & eudodude said, its a connection to the speaker problem. ive had this exact same problem before myself, solder all the connections & you'll never have to deal with it again.

The mid-woofer is clipped but its fairly secure. I checked for any lose wiring but there isn't any that i can tell. Not in the left door anyway.
