Hello from Parramatta, NSW - 07 Civic FD Sport White

hello all and pleased to meet you!

This is my first honda, first new car and first manual car. my sisters both drive civics and i have have always liked their fuel efficiency, handling, and surprising space. Also good for a rev.

I use it for my 40km commute to work in Sydney from out Parra way in the west.
I fell for the FD civic sport as it has a feeling of quality about it that its competitors simply can not even get close to.
I noticed this as soon and I closed the front doors.
I almost bought the mitsubishi lancer, with its aggressive shark like nose it screams out 'hi im the next evo!'. however how many lancers do you see built in the 90s that look crap today and arnt worth the metal they are made from. civics from the 90s however still look, feel and go great. the proof is in their resale.

So far my white beauty has no real modifications. I have thought about lowering, rims, exhausts, air filters. but so far can not justify any purchases mentioned as these items do not offer any overwhelming advantages.
I have invested in a small amp + sub as i am like my trance loud and clear, and there is considerable road noise from the low profile tyres.

I am extremely interested to know more about the ipod cable option, how it works, how much it is, installation complexity, any after market alternatives, and which ipods it will work with.
I have experimented with my mp3 player using the auxiliary jack input (short 3.5mm stereo male/male extension) but found electrical noise levels to be annoying when compared with an mp3 CD alternative in the dash.
Any info here would be great.

Look forward to getting to know you, hope to see you on an inspiring cruise soon. This way I can get some ideas and motivation to stop saving money. Maybe you can help me spend money on things i know i dont need but think are not too immature. lol

well to be honest for the first couple of months i was wondering if the manual was the wrong decision. with the alternative being a 5 speed auto i really could use 'performance' as an excuse for getting the manual could i..
i chose manual as i found myself getting bored driving 40kms to work in the 93 auto excel. i know this sounds weird, considering it has automatic power aerial & FM radio, air con, and rear window wiper.
But ive always wanted a manual and i figured if i ever put an exhaust or air filter on it best i steer clear of an auto. oh there was another reason. selecting manual has ensured my sistsers remain passengers and not drivers. this (keeping women out of the driver seat) helps with protecting paintwork and rims i find.
manual driving is fine now, and dont regret it unless in peak hour bumper to bumper traffic during delays. weekends i love it. overall i love the car, its very tight!

Great choice with the car and manual. I wouldn't go as far as saying there's no point modifying an auto car for performance but you have to admit the drone of a aftermarket exhaust on an auto car does push you to the limits.

    Post some pics
