    HI Comp B16b

Hey guys just toying the idea of a B16b hi comp motor... as its the same block as a b18c7 could i put the b18 crank(i know u have to knotch out the block) and rods in with the b16b hi comp pistons? or is the pistons going to be higher than the block

head to http://www.zealautowerks.com/ to check out what compression you'll make with the setup. if the colour of the page changes to red, then yes, your pistons will shoot out the deck.
    Current Performance Modifications to ED6:
not telling, but it involves a semi-quad carb setup, and lots and lots of compression.

    I'm confused... you want a hi CR 16B or a 18C?

i think its a b16b he wants, but i dont really see much point in fitting a b18c crank. wouldnt the b18c crank have more rotating mass because its designed to handle a bit more torque? it'd probably be better to just mill the head and deck the block a little.

A 18C5-7 crank and rods in the 16B effectively makes it an 18C5-7.

As far as I'm aware.... that is the only difference between the two when comparing the longblock (things like IM and TB I think are slightly different/bigger)

Thanks for the site serverAMV ill be on it for days now... although what does it mean when the page goes black? The point of the whole possible build is to get more torque thus making the 1.8 displacement and hi compression ideal ... i wasnt sure if it would fit but i have some nice combos now

if its black, normally its a bad combo because your pistons are gonna run into the head. or its a bad combo. hmm, havent had that problem with the d series calculator, so it must be uber touchy with b series. try b18c-b16b head, b16a/b crank, PCT pistons, b16b rod, and mill the head about 1mm-1.5mm (0.040inches to 0.060), but it'd be safer with just a mill of 1mm.
it will give you a CR of about 13.08:1, which is about as far as i'd go with oem pistons.
the b16b pistons have a fair bit of dome on them, so you may want some strong piston rings, and maybe get the iggy timing done properly.

my setup in my d series gives me a comp ratio of about 12.08, which is fairly difficult enough to run stably, but it should be stable enough for me with a tune.

if the page turns red, i'd go with high octane if you intend to run that setup, just to keep it from pinging.

oh and the horsepower calc on that page is a little off, doesnt have enough inputs.

if you've got a b18c i'd stick with it. Spoon recommends people with b16bs to get a stroker kit and make it a b18!

stroker kits are fairly expensive, and often its cheaper to just mill the head if you want good compression.
    and he's got a b16b.

if i were going to stroke it to 1.8 i might as well get it running higher compression whilst i was rebuilding the whole thing and get it runing better than a stock b18c... just curious anyone done a hi comp b18c? whats your fuel economy like on them
