I've got one of those oil filter removal tools that attaches to a socket wrench but it's a bit of a nuisance to use.



It looks a bit like that. More recently I've just used a jar opening cloth and found that much much easier, looks like one of these:



It's just a rubber cloth you use to unscrew jar lids but it's excellent for unscrewing oil filters too!
