E10 Unleaded Fuel

Whats the octane rating of e10 unleaded petrol? Ive got an FD1 Civic (which runs on normal unleaded) and it says its suitable for use with E10 but is it actually any good? I know it wont damage the engine but are there any other benefits apart from being a couple of cents a litre cheaper?

No benefits really. Just cheaper. Friend has 07 Civic as well, and gets same km with normal unleaded with E10.

with any fuel...it will take around 2-3 full tanks for any "benefit or loss" from your ECU adjustment. Try a fuel for awhile and your performance and l/100kms will change

BTW E10 can be run no worries on any new cars.

You may also notice slightly lower power output but this is more subjective & difficult to quantify..
The fuel economy is easy to measure however.

E10 is rated differently depending on which company, for example I think shell E10 is 93RON, another is 96RON.
Check their websites

E10 mixed with 98RON 50:50 runs surprisingly well in my Euro (requires Premium), it seems to get a nice performance boost even better than 100% 98RON for some reason.

i can agree with this.. i assume the subject is the Mobil E10.. supposedly 92/94oct from the 10% eth... it does feel "shitter" than reg 92oct that the feel of 95oct is actually very noticable.

i wondered for a week how much i really would have got on your dyno if i had put in 98oct BP that dyno day... :/

Seriously tho , do the math and its better to spend 4c more and get 95 unleaded , get normal economy and "feel". OR better yet spend another 8c and get 98octane , get even better economy and feel.

Would resetting your ECU as you use the new fuels mean a quicker adaption period?

yes. regardless it "appears" to be 2-3 full tanks of the same driver and the same sort of driving style for the ecu to "adapt".

All the new accords coming out of Thailand are programmed to run e20 and suprisingly enough this is how they calculate there fuel economy l/100km when advertising there fuel effeciency. Tests are done using E20. If the car is designed and engineered to use it then use it. On older modelled cars i wouldnt use as Adrian stated it runs like crap.
