Have you checked that the connector is plugged in properly to the headunit?
yeah just then. it was plugged in too far i think. pulled it out a bit and sound came from both sides. kept plugging it in and out just to make sure. its all good now!
update. i found that when i closed the glove box the xcarlink wire was getting squashed. hence sound not coming out of both sides. im going to reposition it somewhere else now.
A friend of mine also had a problem with his, it would play for 2 seconds and just die.
With my one, there is no music coming from the front left passenger door speaker but there is sound coming from the little speaker on the left bottom of the windscreen.
Does anybody have a similar problem or know a solution to this?
I guess tomorrow I'll open it up and see if it's connected properly.
OH! And another thing i noticed, the speakers on the rear passenger doors dont have any sound coming from them. I've checked in a friend Euro and also mine.
Are these speakers there just for looks or.. ?
Anybody fixed the 2 sec problem?? I tried different usb drives and SD cards and 2 secs problem happend for all of them.
I have mine installed for about a week now.
Sometimes it just not picking up my memory stick, although i can see the light is on on the memory stick, I have to switch my car off and on to get it working.
Anyone have the same problem?

Happens to me sometimes. Could me a memory stick incompatibility. I usually turn the headunit off, pull out the thumbdrive, wait 5 seconds and plug it back in. Usually fixes the problem. I am using the Sandisk Micro 4GB.
Hey Jeff_c
Im about to order one and install it myself in my 2005 Euro (wish me luck)
I watched the youtube video and it looked easy altho im worried about cracking the plate around the gear stick base like some seem to of in the forums!!
all you do is stick your fingers in the sides into the shiftboot(tabs and lift up), if you yank too hard you end up dropping the metal clips inside the shifting assembly somewhere which you need to find.

thanks for the tip. Im just waiting on a reply from xcarlink to say if it will work with my iPhone. Fingers crossed
yep, just pull each corner of the shiftboot gently until the panel comes off, as long as you don't yank it too hard you shouldn't have a problem with cracking the casing/breaking the clips
