Noise from Engine/Transmission between 68-78km/h

i dont fill my car in all the time.. sometimes the old man would fill it up.. i only fill up 98 octane and where possible.. 100 octane.. but my old man only fills up the cheap stuff.. 91.. at first.. i did not know or bothered to ask him what he filled my car up with.. but i do realise the engine is running abit different.. and then i realised it was the cheaper stuff.. i find the engine is alot more harder and noisier when using the cheaper stuff..

I only picked up my car on Monday (5th) so besides the tank they put in the car, i have only filled it up twice (today was the second). If my car is so new will:

a) I have caused any damage to the engine putting in 91 octane fuel thus far?
b) since the car is only factory tuned would me putting 95 octane be ok or 98 octane?

the engine is designed to run on 91ron. Lots of ppl run that and get great fuel economy. Its up 2 u if want to put in higher octane fuel... Won't make much diff. I run 98 for no reason.

well from the responses it seems to be better for the car as in it makes it work better and provides less wear over time. Yeah I have decided to go with the 98 RON from Shell.

If you think your engine's life will be pro-longed just because of higher octane you're dreaming. As I said... it's designed to run reliably on 91 ron. The performance gain would be minimal... but so is the extra cost. If anything it just makes is a little smoother running. But yeah... congrats on the new FD2. If marketing material is anything to go by then 98 ron might keep the fuel injection system a little cleaner too. But yeah... one guy here (Buddha[somenumbers]) gets around 6.5 ltr/100km and he has only ever used 91 ron.

Use 98 ron if you want, just don't think 91 ron is bad for the engine.

Thats your problem right there. Use BP ultimate, or Mobil 8000.

I probably used the wrong words, obviously the petrol wont "harm" but in terms of whats best for teh car it seems that 98 RON is the best choice. I guess the only thing is to give it a go and see the results for myself.

Is BP really that much better than shell? whats the difference between the two?
