    Is OBD2 EVil?|

Yesterday i just disconnected my battery for 15 minutes to reset my ECU (thanks for the tip tanghy), and afterwards i took it for a short drive. Now from my butt dyno, i feel like as if the car is much much much better in terms of power and responsiveness

Was this a placebo effect? Has anyone tried this

I originally wanted to reset cos i heard from the US forums that the OBD2 actually "detunes" your car's modifications over time, is this actually true?

And another thing, i heard that with OBd2, VAFC does NOT WORK as the memory gets wiped or something. Does this mean i need VAFC2?

And LASTLY (this is going to sound bad) i'm not even sure i have obd2, cos my car was made in 1995 (its an EK4) and released in 1996. THe www said that obd2 come out in 1996, but myc ar was RELEASED in 1996, just htat the plate was 1995 cos it was the first batch...

    so confused

Hey dude, I’m 99% sure all EK b16 engines are OBD2a.

Read this for info on your ECU Learning.

garry - i dont think VAFC1 vs VAFC2 will make any difference in regard to what you are talking about...

MIKE!! hey man come to the cruise... my car looks better than urs now : P hahaha

i dunno man, i read somewhere that the VAFC1 gets "de-tuned" alongside the OBD2. Whereas the VAFC2 will enforce the tuning changes.

Read the link i posted.. and then think about how piggy back devices like VAFC and VAFCII work.

Ill write up a aticel one day on there down falls... but in essence, all ecu's will learn if you don't change the ECU parameters directly.

from what i here the ECU will try to run your car at the best setting for fuel economy. when u try to trick the ECU that u are getting more air than u really are the ECU will add more fuel. your ECU at first will respond as u want, but then when your ecu sees that the exhuast coming out is burning rich it will lean out again.

    hope that confused u
