I have found a supplier in Perth that can Supply me a HKS Hi-Power Exhaust.
These seem like a good alternative to a stock as its a relatively low drone exhaust, if any at all. And they sound great.
Not many people can get exhausts for S2000's here so there aren't many options unless I import one in myself

    Anyway.
I have been doing a bit of reading on these and from S2KI forums, I hear that the HKS actually loses power over the stock exhaust?
Has anyone had any experiences with this particular exhaust and can anyone confirm that this is the case?
It seems hard to believe that a HKS exhaust will actually cause you to lose power over a stock one

I really don't want to waste my money on an exhaust if it's going to give me less power than a stock one. I'd be pretty pissed if that was the case :P

Any information/advice would be great. Thanks.

i think i read a thread that proves that the HKS doesn't loose power.

how much btw are you getting the HKS system for?

I've been quoted $1300 installed for a HKS Dual Hi-Power for the S2k.
Or $1000 for a HKS Mild Steel one.

its about a grand to bring here from the states, whats the $300 bucks for ontop? it would take 2 hours to put on, normal mechanic will charge about $70 per hour.

so realistically it should only cost you $1140 no more then $1200..

Yes but this still doesn't answer or give me proof that the HKS Exhaust loses power over a stock one.

I don't want to waste my money on one that decreases performance.
If I had to import one it, it wouldn't be a HKS one anyway.

I've only come accross one dyno graph on S2ki, awhile back which showed the HKS dual lose power, it was awhile ago and I was searching for it but could not find it for you.1.3k installed? You could Install it yourself and save some bucks :P. 1.3k is still expensive, AJ-Racing in the usa can get their modified 2 piece version of the 60FXRS landed here for about 1.4k last time I got a quote anyway. It will make more power then the HKS and is also lighter. But you don't want to import one do you?

If you want a local one try some 2nd hand ones, like the Spoon n1 for sale on ebay, but its a single if you want dual get the BYS that FLY's selling. If you want brand new try jdm concept they can get just about anything.

I would choose T1R 70mm from AJ racing.

When you say exhaust does this include headers? The reason I asked is because I already have some HKS 4 into 1 headers, now I am just looking for the rest of the system........still undecided. I was just going to make a twin straight through no resonators, just two straight through mufflers at the rear. I am not worried too much with noise/drone, I can always bolt the stock one back on if I get pulled over. I just don't want it to sound like a fart can, a nice deep note and loud is fine. On my 94 CRX I ran 2.25, straight through resonator and muffler but I have no experience with the S2K.

    Thanks,

    James.

No, the HKS is 'cat back'. So from the catalytic converter to the tips.

Did you buy the HKS headers from E-bay?

Yeah. I don't think there are any power gains really, but it looks nice and it is meant to sound pretty good too. It's pretty hard to get much more out of these cars from what I can see. And by hard I mean $$$$$$ expensive . Guess it shows how good Honda got this one straight out of the box. It will save weight as well I guess. There was a Titanium cat back too but we had a bad storm down here and my Internet died!!!!!

I appreciate the help here, I mainly have vintage air cooled Hondas in the garage, and a 1G JDM CRX so my experience with the S2K is minimal.

best gains imo would be J's racing combo, test pipe and a 70RS or single outlet exhaust...
