    Cost of airbags

    Hi,

My car (Integra 2004 model) recently was involved in an accident and its airbags were deployed and my seatbelts were also detached from their housing (Don't understand why this happened). Anyone know how much airbags cost including installation? How bout the cost of reinstalling the seatbelts? I rang my dealer and he quoted a figure of $2k-3k for the airbags which I find ridiculous.

    Thanks

    2-3k is abut right.
Usually if most airbags are deployed , this can financially write off a car.
Call around and get the best price you want.

Sh**! I didn't expect it to be that exp! Do you guys know how much I am getting if I sell my car to a wrecker or estimate of total repair cost?. FYI, one of my door and my front quarter panel is badly damaged, one of the wheels fell off and as I said the airbags and seatbelt thing. But all the glasses and indicators are fine and unscratched. The engine and all the components are good as well.

    Thanks

i take it you dont have insurance....if you did your car probably would of gotten written off.
call repairers as no one here can give you an accurate number

    2-3k is cheaappp!

you can buy the airbags out of another wreck, probably cheaper, though you will prob need to get your SRS ecu reset or buy the SRS ecu too.

a guy called evilsub was selling the airbags out of his wreck, do a search in the FS forum.
If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

I don't really understand. I thought my car would be considered a write off if the repair cost is greater than my car's market price. From redbook, I gather it is around $20k. Realistically, I hope the repairs wouldn't exceed that amount.

not market price...a certain percentage tho yes.
think of "financial writeoff" as the degree of repair that isnt financially viable to the insurance company.

For example a dc5 stolen or recovered with 2 front seats missing (recaros) is regarded a writeoff. They are worth , to the insurer to purchase probably alittile under half the cars overall value

anyway back on topic , the car is not road worthy so you will have to take as many pictures of it to show repairers and get a fair estimation of repair bill.

Write off would be about 60-70% of the replacement cost generally, depending on policy
