    DC4 fuels running fast

hey guys, i bought a dc4 not long ago, the first tank of petrol last me about 420km, after gettting a car service, now when the pointer at the fuel indicator reaches a half, and it has only been running about 120km, why is that? is that the indicator's weird or something is wrong with my car?

Sometimes first half of the tank would run faster than the last.
It could also be the petrol your using. Usually a lower octane would not have as many kms.

Also your driving style could be affecting your KM's per tank. It could even just be your on a slope whenever you check your petty.

ATM I wouldn't really consider it a problem until you attempt a full tank petrol with a consistent driving style.

Rawr puts it very well. It could be due to many reasons which could well range from the "harmless" i.e. suburban (more stop/starts) versus freeway driving to "uh-oh" mechanical problems. As per Rawr, I wouldn't immediately relate the lesser consumption/mileage ratio to anything significant unless the situation steadily deteriorates. You could well clock the remainder of what you consider "par" mileage on what is left in your tank or you could take public transport and help save the world. Jk.

man 120km only? and fuel guage has gone down half way?

    that's wrong

my h22a does close to 550km on a full tank...
so you would think by the time the guage is half way the trip meter should be around 250...
once the needle hits half way i would have done 225-230...fuel tank is 60L but when the needle is half way there is actually a little over 30L of fuel left. so the top half of my fuel guage goes down faster than the bottom half from what i've seen in the last few months.

imo on the average car each quarter of the fuel guage should get you at least 125-130km

I still think the OP should test out his full tank with a steady driving style before making an assumption that the car is broken

How many L/100km are you getting? Saying kms per tank or halftank is useless because on many cars, the fuel gauge is inconsistent and inaccurate.

He doesn't know cause he only goes half tank i think. That's what I understood from the OP's original post anyway.

the first full tank i used was about 420km which was 50L for a teg, and now im hitting around 320km for a full tank.....at this point i used half of my petrol and it only done about 140km, i'll see how many ks i can do with the second half of the tank im hoping its the gauage stuffed up like the old cars e.g mitsubitshi mirage

Yeah, the gauge can have problems. The best way is to fill up to full tank, zero your trip meter, drive about 200km and then fill up to full again. Divide the number of litres filled the 2nd time with the amount of kms you drove.
