extend gear stick

Hey,

Im looking to install an aftermarket gear knob. The push button is just short. I need to extend the part circled in green. Does anyone have suggestions on what to use to extend by maybe another 1/4-1/2cm? Im not even sure that it will work. Or maybe i can add something on the underside of the button to extend.

Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly.

played around with the gear knob. Thought i needed it to be longer. Now it fits perfectly
