    Engine conversion RTA question

    Hey guys,

    Just need to make sure, is it possible and legal to put an older engine into a newer chassie? This car will need to be regoed in NSW.

    yes.. i called RTA and they advised me that i can put a 96 model engine into my ek and my ek is 98 model.. and yes i called RTA tech support. and police also hope this helps mate..

    the only way you can do it is if you can prove that the older engine will meet or exceed the emissions standard of the new motor

    so to do this you need to get an emissions test.

    thats the only way you can legally engineer/register it

    How much would it cost for an emission test? Also wouldnt a 96 and 98 b18cr have the same emission level?
