i've been alternating between bp and vortex 98. only because i get fuel cards from work for caltex lol. So far they seem about the same but my car is new only 800kms on the clock
Based on actual engine dismantling and tests... Here are my results.
Caltex Vortex - More power but higher consumption
BP Ultimate - Slightly better consumption, less power than Vortex and V Power, cleaner valves and cylinders
Shell V Power - Less consumption and power than Vortex, valves and cylinders are dirtier than Ultimate.
Never had a chance to see the valves and cylinders while I was on Vortex.
do you drive to the refinery and quote " fill 'er up please".
Rofl
Would be nice..... one day I will work there.....
Seriously though, all 98 fuel other than BP over here gets shipped in from the eastern states, or Singapore. Woodside don't make anything above 95 oct over here.
I only been tried out between Caltex 95 & 98 and Shell 95 & 98 most of the time over the 70K on my car because of discount doc.
I found 98 of both companies give about the same mileage and power, and of course they do better than 95.
But when I work out the extra cost of the 98 over 95, 98 seems to be a little bit more expensive to run per Km.
Its all depends what type of drive you are doing. In City, the cheaper 95 (without E10 of course) is the best, because you burn petrol standing still more than making Km. Where is for HWY, especially for long road trip, 98 will be better.
well done.. i've clocked up 7000km as of yesterday
well i only picked up the car in august lol. got it during the run out but picked it up in august. worked out a deal with the dealer to hold it till my term deposit matured so i could pay for it = ]
i think from memory is was built in OCT 07. now its 900kms will book my first service for monday or tuesday hopefully
Shell - i get 350-400 per tank.
Vortex 98 - only get about 450-500.
BP - 600 (was better before)
Mobil 8000 - 650-700 (now mobil has better fuel consumption)
These figures were just what i noticed on my car, and from my experience.
BUT can't compare since we've got slightly different cars as yours is a CU2.
I just started using BP Ultimate and the motor seems to spin up more smoothly now (maybe it's a figment of my imagination).
Does anyone know what year Honda made the changes to the VTEC to stop the sudden rush of power? In my car i don't feel any of this "rush" even up to 7000rpm.

Well...if you are driving the new Euro, it should kick in around 5k rpm. I tried it the other day and i certainly notice that. The power just kick in from 5k to 7k rpm..
