    Fuel economy of your Honda

    Hi there,

I wonder what is your average fuel economy vs what Honda claimed. I have a 2007 Honda Legend and the claimed average fuel consumption is 11.7 litre/100km.

I have always go easy on the pedal and the best I got was 13.6 lit/100km. Well above the average. Maybe it is because I do about 70% city driving...

    What about yours?

    Hi dude,
the claimed average is only used as a tool for consumers to compare different cars. If u read specs for cars, it will always have that asterisks then in fine print some crap about figures based on specific conditions.

Also, city driving kills fuel economy cos of idling, and constant stop start.

I meet the claimed average when I drive highway heaps. but with city driving, always increases by 2L/100

Mine is F***ing exellent. Averaging about 7.8 or so it says on the dash.
I havent broken 10L/100kms yet (for tank average), and I got a fairly heavy foot.
This new CU2 is just sooooo efficient! It's got more grunt than my old CL9 too!

So many factors affect fuel consumption.
eg. start-stop driving, having aircon on, incorrect tyre pressure, excess weight, excess drag with open windows, type of fuel, condition of air filter, condition of oil.
    cant think of any more...

then theres like driver stuff. like, selecting appropriate gear, redlining etc.

the fuel consumption label should give 3 figures: combined (urban and non-urban), only urban, and only non-urban.
so what are you comparing your figures to?

it's prob the amount of city driving that you do which is increasing your consumption
