Behind dash. most common location especially when the heater boxes / vents have been removed. As for how to do it, not hard extending wires, just make sure you do it the correct way IE different coloured wires to help faulting if it arrises and solder the wires together, dont just twist them and chuck some tape over it, heat shrink ftw.
