its got upgraded brakes, type R exhaust, but thing is the bloke said he doesnt have a engineers cert, and that the engine is registered with the car thru vicroads (in sydney its rta).
There is no way you can legally put an H22 into a Civic without an Engineer's Certificate, at least here in NSW and I'm pretty sure Vic is just as strict. You are increasing the capacity from 1.6L to 2.2L.

    2.2 - 1.6 = .6

    .6/1.6 x 100 = 30% increase in power.

Can anyone here explain this a better way?

    2. Replacement engine is not of a type offered by the vehicle manufacturer as an option for that vehicle or where alterations, or changes to the vehicle's frame or structure are made, and/or specially fabricated supports or structures are used
You will need to attend a VicRoads Customer Service Centre for an inspection of the vehicle to confirm the new engine details. You will also need to complete a Change of Vehicle Description form [PDF 24kb] and provide VicRoads with:

    1. a VASS Approval Certificate from a VicRoads Vehicle Assessment Signatory
    2. an original receipt for the purchase of the engine as proof of ownership of the engine

    Extract from Vicroad

fyi it's not the weight of the h22, it's how it's mounted in the engine bay
afaik when thrown into eg's the motor is mounted further forward which which why people say it's more nose heavy

yes, but it is heavier anyway, coz its a bigger block.

    compare a 1.6l to a 2.2l

the h22a doesnt seem to be significantly heavier then the b or d series.
in the link the short block is only 23lb(10.5kg) heavier, but then more torque from the h22a might out benefit the little extra weight

    short block.

not including transmission, or head, or ancilleries.

and we arent talking about the weight negating the power, we are talking about the weight screwing handling in a light car...

    from that thread

well my d15b vtec weighed 306 pounds in the same condition as kimini's h22 which weighed 475 pounds so about another 170 pounds

    ok, so a k20a+tranny = about 182kilos
    a b20vtec + tranny = about 181 so for a b16, and b18, it wouldnt be too much less, say 175
    a d15+trans = 136
    h22+trans = 215

so its 35kilos heavier than a k series or b20vtec, and maybe up to 40 heavier than a b16/18
