need advice/opinions on wat sound system/ brand to put in

Heya, i would jus like to get ppl's opinion as to what brand sound system to go with. The civic ek1 has the original tape deck and speakers and i want to upgrade it obviously. I'm heading towards pioneer but not sure yet. At the moment i don't want subs just basically a decent cd/mp3/dvd player and speakers both 6x9's for the back and another pair for the front. And would just like to know wats the highest watts i can go with without needing an amp or watever to support the speakers. I luv my base in my music so please let me know what u think. i dunno much about power etc so any advice is much appreciated

thats not much in car audio...

id say divide the money like so:

1. $300headunit, $300splits, $3002chan amp, $100wiring. pro: theyll be of decent quality, con: no sub

OR

2. squeeze a headunit, splits, 4chan amp, sub, sub box & wiring all for 1 grand. pro: you'll get everything you want, con: hows the build & sound quality?? what quality?!

id suggest the first route, build your system in 2 stages & add the sub+subbox+(monobloc)amp when funds allow. at least you wont have a garbage system.

and with that budget id forget about getting rear speakers at all.

okies ye the first one sounds good. so i'd need an amp for sure? Also wat brands do u recommend? I dont really know much about the watts n that in regards to speakers, is there a limit also to that? sowi

its preferable you get an amp for speakers, if you dont you're just limiting your speakers potential. we'll talk about wattage after you've made a decision on what gear you wanna buy.

sorry for the late reply. yes i have been looking around. In regards to the budget that i put down, scrap that. I got a JVC KD AVX44 HU put in which looks sweet and cost me bout $800 lol but it was worth it. In regards to speakers, i'm heading towards Pioneer. I'll be looking at getting splits for the front, 6x9's to replace the stocks ones at the back and an amp. As much as i luv the bass, i probably won't get a sub at this stage, coz they take too much room in the boot. But was looking at the new subs from pioneer that are made for cars that dont have much room, so maybe them.

yes just ignore the budget. i din't realise how much things were and i guessed wrong so i don't have one anymore. i'm basically looking for a really good set up. I've already got the HU so now just looking at speaker set up. I like clarity and quality in my sound so yes i'm open to anything, not too pricey but get value for money. I've never heard those brands before, i'm guessing they're rare in aust?
