If we pay our fines sooner, does that mean we gain our points sooner?

(I payed my speeding ticket like 3 hours after I received it thinking the above....)

if you loose (suspend) your lisence tho, its from the time you receive the letter to notify when you loose it, regardless of when you paid - normally 2-3 weeks after

i paid my fine, recieved a letter about 2 weeks after i paid it, and then it told me that i will be suspended a certain date ( which was approx 12days from that date i received it)
