Anybody replaced the shocks/struts in their gen 1 CR-V?

I think my 2001 gen 1 CR-V with 90,000km on the clock could be due for new shocks. The ride is bouncy and rolls alot and when I brake there's a rubbing/scratching noise from the front end somewhere. Could this be the shocks needing replacing?

If so, what's a good brand to consider? KYB? Are they pricey? I won't touch Monroe again after a horrible experience not once but twice in the past with a previous car. Never again will I touch Monroes - they are crap. But I've heard good things about KYB however I have had no experience with them. I take it would be a given not to get a Honda dealer to replace with OEM parts as that would be the most $$$ for an inferior product?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Hey mate,

I was thinking about it too. I have 97 CR-V with a bit over 200 on clock. Shocks are completely dead. Get same rolls on the road as well and heaps of bad sound on bumps. Done heaps of service since bought it, most of it but shocks.

Does you steering wheel shake while braking from 100 or so?

I was going to get KYB, as been advised by my mate who did install them on his sky, they feel very good. A bit better then stocks. You can order some from US, about 300 usd + delivery. Or buy from autoone for 600 aud set. Didn't check with honda though, i think will be heaps more.

Hope this helps, if gonna change them shortly will provide more detail

you need to make your crv's into cars instead of the soft roaders they're pretending to be
