Well how much have you got to spend? What kind of power are you looking at getting out of this thing? You should be able to get a GReddy kit for under 3 grand. You have to add additional costs to that such as an intercooler (always wise) and blow off valve. Don't forget dyno time costs too if you don't have the ability to street tune.
If you will be happy with about 120kw at the treads then I would just get the GReddy kit, nice intercooler, set of bigger fuel injectors, blow off valve and exhaust. If you factor in dyno tuning I can't see it costing any more than 6 grand if you do some work yourself. If you want to go further than this I would take a totally different approach and change your pistons and rods, then go with a larger turbo (Garrett GT28R for example). The GReddy kit comes with a Mitsubishi TD04-15G.

A JDM B18C R will also nety you the same figures - if you do it right
B18CR swap is fraught with many headaches... prepare to not have a car for a while...
i love hybrids - the idea is wonderful, stick a more powerful engine in a lighter chassis, but beware - it won't go to plan hahaha must do your cost (actual and intangible)/benefit analysis.
