    CB7 Fuel consumption

Hey all, just a few questions, how much km on average should my 1990 accord be achieving? What should be my average km per 100km? and what is the size of the fuel tank? My car seems to be using more than i would imagine for a 4 cylinder..

    Cheers

Tell us your avg's for fuel consumption??

I drive auto.. get shit ass fuel consumption... im getting high 11L/100km's.......according to the redbook, the car came out of the factory doing approx 11L/100km...Soo i guess im doing okay?? ....

I have to add that im using Honda FEO , 1 spark plug is fouled, 1 x pod filter. stock wheels on stock profile (195/60/15) 40 psi front 36 psi @ rear......thats the only thing i think that could effect my fuel consumption...O i i also use 91RON,, but i noticed i get more KM using 98RON ( but car doesn't crank as well on cold start using this )..

Fuel tank size, Should be either 60L or 65L

ok well im bascially getting to around 320-330 when the fuel gauge nearly reads on the red warning line.. the light doesnt come on but it just sits on the line.. and when i fill up im only putting in roughly 35-37 litres?

The Fuel gauge/dial thing isnt accurate at all.. you may notice for example the first half of the dial you get more mileage compared the second half of the guage....getting 320-330 out of 35-37.. would equate to somewhere around 11km's per 100 as well i think..soo it seems fine..

On my for example.. when the needle as 1/4 from the bottom, i can fill in 47 Litres...soo i guess my guage is pretty accurate.definate the accords have a 55L tank or more at the very least..

    Hi all,
Some news on the CB7 fuel tank, if u have ever wondered if ur tank is only getting 300+ kays out of it, honda set up a plan for people that used to run their tank dry, when u get to the Red line marker on the fuel guage, u have about 15 litres or so left, more than enough to get u around..
and the tank size is 65 litres in AUS..

Yep yep.. just as i though ....another thing that plays a factor that i didnt mention earlier, is the tyre size your using ,, stock is 195/60/15 = 205/45/17(under sized slightly) = 215/40/17 (undersized slightly) or 215/45/17(slightly oversized).

According to my knowledge, the K"s on the CB7 that rack up on the oedometer arn't from a sensor,, its just the number of times the wheel axle turns, which means if the radius of your tyre is small then the recommended, you will be actually getting more K's rack up because the wheels have to spin faster to cover the same distance compared a bigger wheel

Best I've seen with my 91 CB7 was 6.5L per 100km on an interstate trip. This is at close to legal speeds (i.e. not much over...), with two people and luggage, and occasional AC use.

Car is manual (with Motul synthetic gearbox oil), engine more or less stock (except for home made cold air intake), front and rear toe at zero, tyre pressures at 42psi, driving both at night (cool) and day (quite warm to hot). Strangely, I seem to get better economy when my wife is travelling with me...

Around town, Accords seem fairly thirsty for a four cylinder. This would be mostly because it's a relatively large capacity four cylinder, and a relatively heavy car. Once at speed on the hwy you're not having to continually accelerate all that mass up to speed as you have to constantly do in town, and the body is fairly good aerodynamically.

10-11L/100km around city sounds about right. i had a 95 vti and it did around the same.
