There are also plenty of gains to be had with these high tech diesels now days!
    Hot4's i30 Hyundai went from 85kW / 255Nm to 100kW / 330Nm (17% gain) with computer tuning.

I think the Mazda 6 diesel engine sounds much more impressive...

136kw and 400nm from 1800rpm.. Now that should mumbo nicely

Yeah but the Euro will come as a manual and auto whereas the Mazda6 is manual only. For a car to have any hope of selling in sufficient numbers, it needs to have an auto version.

Yeah, thats partly why mazda6 TD failed last time. Diesels seem to be more of a fad this time around though, so they might do a lot better.

Was talking to a friend who is Mazda sales last saturday. He said Mazda has no intention of bring in diesel version and MPS for 6 due to poor sales of previous model.

Bringing deisel engine toward end of a model's life coupled with "Manual Only" definitely didn't do any good to sales figure. Now with cost of deisel almost 30 cents dearer than unleaded, really have to the mathematic right to work out which engine will be more economical to run.
