my guess is they dont have one

Have read guys maxing out redline on carby's with no drama's because they don't run ECU's. This is in regards to toyota's though

Cam im going to make a few assumptions (please correct/confirm)

Are you talking about a double or single carby?

If single carby are you talking about a D15a2/D15a3 (Ew2 and or EW3?)

If its the case you are talking about the above (EW2 and or EW3) then there is no ECU (or atleast one ive yet to find one)

If double carb then im going to assume your talking about a ED D15B1 (lol i know probably usdm code) and say NFI if you could run it without a ECU (maybe use a manual fuel pump or bike carbs?)

Im curious which car is this involved with?

you will have lots of troubles with mixtures if you dont run the ECU, aslo it will not idle correctly.

why do you want to disable the ECU ??

It would be much more simple for me to wire up if i didnt need to use an ECU. I am not a wiz with electronics and just need it to run... I will be changing the carbies soon...

You should be able to work out most of the wiring.
You have the engine harness, underdash harness and fusebox, ECU of the same car. You have the majority of the stock wirning to run the car..

I'm guessing the worst of it would be figuring out how to wire up your 79 civic plugs from the dash, rear harness, Ign switch etc into the EG underdash fusebox.

    think of it this way...
If you picked up these EG parts:
    -Underhood fusebox
    -Dash harness and cluster
-Rear harness (maybe slight differences as with the underdash harness hooking upto headlights, indicators etc, i have no idea.. different car, this shouldn't be too tricky to figure out though)
-IGN Switch (as long as it will hook upto your barrell??)

Those parts along with the EG wiring/ecu you currently have... The whole wiring/engine/drivetrain would be that of an EG. It would be all plug and play and no custom wiring needed (Apart from possibly the headlights etc). I'd be going this way just for ease.. And then when you have it all started and sorted, you could try figure out a way to wire up your old cluster and dash if you wanted.

Don't forget you will need a fan switch for your engine as i took it off. I have 2 of them at home so i can give you one. Unless you have that worked out now?
