Have u ever heard of Sungard brand of tints?? They are American... Well i got mine done from Sungard.... The tint is called DessertSmoke 40... Its clear but has a reflective silvery/mettalic tinge and its a 40 tint so its very legal...

Well Sungard and VCool come from the same factory... I wanted VCool but they cost about $800-$1000 for a car to get tinted... Too expensive but VCool is one of the best tints in the world...

If u have sungard stores around where u live why don't u go their and query...

my view, get tint done your self and make sure they put felt on the inside of the door. Scratched tint looks shithouse.
I got my tints thrown in for free along with the spoiler, it was part of the deal we arranged when I bought the car, so I wouldn't know how much they charge for it. One thing you are forgetting though is warranty, I had the same scratch issue like lots of folks are after putting in the tint, my dealership knew of the problem and retinted the front windows yesterday when I got it serviced, free of charge of course as it is part of the dealer new car warranty; they also put in a rubber seal to stop it happening again.

Now if I didn't go through the dealer to do the tints who knows if they would even honor the warranty because as far as they are concerned they didn't tint it so it wouldn't be their issue would it? It was worth it for peace of mind at any rate, no hassles it is fixed now and it didn't cost me anything!

tinting typically costs the dealers no more than 200 dollars per vehicle, the paint protection costs them about 200 dollars per vehicle.

buyers screw the dealers down on price so hard that they have to make a profit out of something hey?

I believe it is only a Euro problem, Honda's response to the issue is that they made the gap between the window and door trim as small as possible to reduce wind noise as much as they can! Apparently a memo was sent when the Euro's first arrived here in Australia stating that there may be issues with scratching if people added tint, of course this information wasn't passed onto customers untill the problem became more apparant and more people came back with the same issue. Bottom line is you have to make sure it is covered by your warranty, I would at least make sure that they attach the rubber seal or felt seal to prevent it from happening!
