Eg Civic D15b7 - noisy operation, how to make it quieter?

I just got this Honda civic EG civic sedan - carby motor. manual.

D15b7 - its abit noisy, the only closest description i can say is that it sounds like a diesel van makes when you hear it from the outside.

why does it make that sound? and how to quieten whatever sound that is.

    thanks fellas.

    lol wth?

d15b7 is an efi motor not carby.

and that diesel sound is your lifters.
    adjust your tappets.

either that, or your running low oil and/or have no oil pressure going to the head.

then when i checked it properly yesterday, i was tripping out....i saw injectors, separate intake manifold...so on.

    oil level is all good.

yeah thanks fellas, ill get it checked out.

yeh well just remember that the "i" in GLi stands for injection/injected.

sorry to hijack but i have a similar problem.. its a constant ticking sound and gets faster as the revs go higher..
ive gotten the tappets checked out and theyre all good..
it doesnt sound like the engines knocking..
    could it be the injectors?

possibly, possibly, it could be a loose timing belt. Only because that's the
same response i received when i asked someone else. Tappets otherwise
    loose timing belt.

LOL i was gonna say its the noise a train makes as it gets faster, as that
is what DVS has listed as car... (i thought it was funny for a sec, and
thought he was taking the mickey....but no)

If i can get the chance, i'll record it and post. Otherwise literally sounds
    like a loud knocking/ticking noise.

Using thin oil i get alot of valvetrain chatter, but the new knocking sound
is loud. Even at a RBT, the officer was a bit concerned. lol
My car is a Vtec motor.

Lol your mech isnt a honda tech then.

Hondas never made an engine with lifters.
Every single honda engine has tappet adjustments, up till this day.

Even though the noise is gone when you changed the oil, it will eventually come back.
