I'm about to replace my stock 16" rims with 17" luxury ones. What tyres would you guys recommend for it? I think the standard size is 225/45R17. My budget is around $1000-$1200 for the set. I'm after performance and feel with reasonable wear.

    Any ideas/opinions are welcome.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Tony,
Yep that was my reply to the other guy but somehow the reply got mixed up with the question. I was just letting him know that I am really happy with my DZ 101's and for $180 a tyre they were a great deal IMO.

I'm swapping 2 of my dead tyres to Michelin Pilot Preceda PP2 tomorrow, guy said they're the best performance tyre in the 225/45/17 profile and on par with the P-Zeros... I'm yet to be convinced but for $330 a corner they better be pretty damn good :P

Just put on some RE001's. $222 each tyre after NRMA member discount at Parramatta Bridgestone. So far tyre seems quite and doesn't tram line like the OEM RE040's.

I kept my old RE040's which have worn out on the sides but is still good if your strapped for cash. Anyone wants them for cheap PM me.

Drove his car, damn the Michelins are good. Much higher grip than my 205/55 R16 RE001.

what does everyone think of goodyear eagle F1's?

i've got 205/55/16 on mine at the moment and they're not too bad, although i'm too scared to push it to the limits...and not even going to try fast cornering in the wet.

they seem as quiet as my stock dunlops though

    Look at the Dunlops

Price the Direzza DZ 101s 225/45/17s from your local Dunlop supplier and you'll find the cheapest will be $280 and often they will be around $300+.

Taleb tyres brought some in direct from Japan and I got mine for $180 a tyre!
They have excellent grip, look realy good on the rims and are very quiet. Definitley worth a look IMO.

    Cheers

which F1 model? I've had the german-made GSD03 before. it is fantastic.. you can really push the car hard with that.
I've no experience with the China made ones, but I've heard some horror stories with them.
I'm currently on the Falken FK452. Have done 20k km on them, still going good. better than the stock BS RE040, and on-par with the GY F1 GSD03.
