try changing your fluid to brand new MTF 06 from honda - 2.5 litres.

    Then see if that helps.

and add a nulon g70. miracle stuff that. my eg was the same. mtf change and g70. was a dream after that besides the whole getting it into reverse thing. only the 1st creep forward then reverse trick can help that.
Is this the end of my car modding days? Buying a house says so...

Could be a synchro issue. My car does the same thing from 2nd to 3rd, but no crunch from 4th to 3rd and I have been told it is a synchro issue from my mechanic.

It's still driveable, but it would be best to try and get it sorted out asap.

Basically you need to recondition your gearbox, or get a new gearbox that is in working order.

In my Subaru I had my 1st gear reconditioned and it cost $800 to do (covered by warranty) so it's not cheap to do.

With my current gearbox though if I granny shift then theres no crunching, only when i try and shift a little too quickly. So try and shift a little slower and that should get rid of the crunching.

I'd try to avoid as much crunching as possible though if you're going to keep it like that
