lol no and i bet it will be alot of fun...
but factor in the cost of the car and the amount needed to get to that stage.
    sorry if i wasnt clear.
a mildly setup b18cR eg will cost me less than 15k with interior/exterior mods.
i dont think i can find a 200kw atw wrx for that price.

dont waste your money on a bseries if your going to do all those mods.

Put in a K20 or k24 for that same amount of mods. If you sit down and have a think of how much you are going to spend on the B-series, you could of got yourself a K-series for 1-2k extra.

I had this similar chat with a mate, and he made the right choice

eg with the right sussy mods = heaps of value for daily! b18cr is just the icing on the cake.

wrx tho is a different game
Is this the end of my car modding days? Buying a house says so...

well id say the JDM b18cR is the best. if im not mistaken the engine is 5 kw extra compared to audm b18cR. tuned it should give out some mad power not forgetting that you have altered your power to weight ratio and if its a eg breeze you cant go wrong since eg breeze had the lightest shell out of the eg range.

rex is a nice ride but as a daily ahhhhh i wouldnt settle for it. even with your engine swap in the eg your fuel comsumtion wont really be high and would serve as a good daily car and a beast when you want to let it rip.

okay wtf? Whats with all the homosexual responses? I didn't ask about a wrx, or about the definition of bang for buck. My bang for buck reference was in relation to the 3 engines I listed.

I'd like to know the difference between each of them, when on the same car with those mods listed. I don't care if your mums sisters ugly cousin drives a 200kw wrx.

Yeah, but then when you factor in the small things it's not really $2k.

Factor in K-Pro, and your typical engine mounts/headers and I think it gets really expensive. Probably then need hasport axles too.

I'm not listing Brakes or suspension because I'm running BC RS Dampers on 4 lug DC2 Brakes all round. But I agree with you though, I would love a K20 and I'm still thinking about it. I just keep getting concerned about the extra few g's that'll keep being required. Benson can I ask you, backyard job K20 into EG, how much do you think running just K-Pro? Obviously headers, cat back and intake will probably need to be custom. Otherwise everyone else will be bone stock (clutch/flywheel) or bone stock required (axles/engine mounts). For the JDM B18CR, I figure it's a sage $7000-$7500 but everytime I sit down for the K20 it's an easy $10,000 not factoring in a few surprises..

Thanks for the good replies from a few people (90lan, 53exx etc)!

Thanks for the reply. I know the JDM B18CR is the best engine out of the 3, but say if I can do B18C2 for $4k installed, is the JDM B18CR worth the $7500?

Just save the money and get the JDM B18CR, you'll appreciate it in the long run, oh and just a tip, keep an eye out for front cuts so you get most things that you'll need for the conversion. The parts that you're left with, you can keep for spares as EG and DC2 are quite similiar in some sense... or you could sell the un-used parts!

The installation should be the same across all the three motors so shop around for installation costs as well. If someone charges you more because it's JDM or a 'type r' motor rather than a VTI-R motor.. tell them shove it.. they are all the same, just different internals and ECU configurations... and they all fit snug in - if that makes sense?

    GOOD LUCK!

Good night, hold on tight, don't let the vtec bite!

well the thing is moya its hard for me to say but it all comes down to want you expect from your car. first off if your looking for a drag car + daily then id say go with the JDM b18cR. if your going for a daily + track or mountain runs then a b18c2 will do nicly also there is one thing that might be up for consideration. COSTS. a nicely moded B18c2 should cost you a little less than the price for a JDM b18cr but that something for you to think about. personally i would get the JDM motor as they are run crazy although stock (extractors and a good exhast + CAI taken into account). AND yes they are worth every penny but it also depens on how much love was put into that engine mate. a little TLC goes a long way when it comes to a engine.

as JDM80Y mentioned get a half cut since there is alot of things you shall require for the convert. Might like to make a suggestion about updating your brakes/brake booster and propotional value. all that Hp needs braking power too. LOL

Thanks. I'm already running fully upgraded brakes (DC2 corners, DC2R Booster/MC) and suspension. I'm also running DC2R suspension (sway, struts and shocks/springs, lca's). All thats left now is the engine (and rice).

I'm basically looking for a daily driver, that I can take mostly to the drags. Then there's to quarterly Mountains. I'd love to start getting into Circuit days too.

I honestly don't even race/hoon on the street. Hence why my stock 1.5 engine is okay for me as a daily, but the extra B series torque/power would be nice.

LOL b16 motors are more revs compared to a B18, both engines are great for swaps but has alot of facters that needs to be taken into consideration, not that im bad mouthing b16's its just that it all comes down to the driver of the car and what rocks his boat.

yup looks like youre on the right path with the mods to the car moya. wish you all the best and keep us posted on whats happening. decided on what ECU your going with yet??? or you going to use a teggy ECU without tunning???

b18c2 would also be good. but i would also get the type r 4.7fd lsd gearbox.
    it makes an incredible difference.
but then again it puts you just that bit closer price range to a b18cR...
b18c2 have better bottom end response so its abit better to drive daily, b18cr you will be higher in the rev range.. some ppl dont like sitting at higher rpm when the cruising.
