as far as i know whether or not you're using stock or extended studs on the front of your ek you'll need to press out your hub, install the studs and press the hub back in
i've been able to do this without destroying the current wheel bearing
I have knocked my standard front studs out tried to fit my extended studs and couldn't fit the extended ones in so reinstalled the standard studs
So no you don't have to remove the hub if the studs are standard length
