    Weird noises in engine

    theres some weird noises coming outta my engine when i start my engine and turn on the aircon im not sure whats going on i asked the mechanic but he said hes not sure what it is and i rather not get jipped off by the guy so i rather now whats happened too my engine it sounds like its going to turn off but when i do turn it off it stops anyone know about this problem or had this problem your information would be greatful thanks

    If you are able to put up a video with audio,the guys here will be able to tell U what it is in a shot.

    so this weird noise only happens when u turn the car on and then the aircon straight after?

    nah it happens when i leave the aircon on while the cars running lol and when i stop it starts to struggle and sometimes when i hit over 70 or so it starts to give a really bad screeching noise =\ really bad since i love my car :'(

    A/C compressor or compressor clutch is on its way out
    if the mechanic doesnt know what it is id stear well clear of him
    to see all of my build, checkout

    How bout more info on the car?

    Carby or EFI?

    If carby, then thats just the way it is.
    Adjust your idle mixtures.

    If EFI it should compensate for the extra load as soon as A/C is turned on.

    And as for the screeching.
    Change the belt first.
    Instead of going down the expensive path and going for a compressor and regas, why not change the belt first and see if it fixes the problem?
    If not then you got yourself a new compressor and belt.

    And if your mechanic cant diagnose a problem like that. id take the recommendation made by trism to steer clear away from him/her.

    However the mechanic is honest in saying he/she doesnt know what the problem is instead of quoting you a bunch of things.

    Go the cheaper option first and you can pin point which part is faulty.
    Youd rather change a 20 dollar belt and find the noise still there rather than change a few hundred dollar compressor only to find out the belt is fcuked.
