nah but h22a would be a torquey as car man!
there are a couple cars rolling around with h22s in their civics.. heres one that danny wrote for egs which have similar engine bay size as eks.
This engine conversion i am not familar but.
these engines can be found in the Gen 4,5 prelues, Accord Type R's etc
H22as can be picked up pretty cheap compared to the B serise has they are not as popular.
H22a's are very very torquey. There are few cars on the forums with H22a's and the can run mid to high 13's easy.
Without provoking outrage from H22 conversion owners, I have owned 6 converted EG's and the H22 can make a beast of a vehicle - in good and bad ways!
The B16A and B18C7 just feel like they are designed to be in the car, handling, feel etc. The H22A cars I owned (only owned the first one for a day but it cost me $1500 in that day!), were both crazy fast and more torquey but less revvy than the B18 I have now (and no faster either down the strip or point to point). The engine felt like it's not at one with the chassis and the dash in both cars vibrated more than it should, even at idle.
The car understeers more heavily and without p'steering it is also heavier in the steering than my B18CR. In both H22 cars, heat soak through the firewall made summer drives a thing for the mildly insane.
My best advice is to drive something like you want to build before you build it! The number of build projects that get sold as soon as they are completed tells you just how important this step is!
EK's may be slightly different with regard to engine bay size, heat etc so ask someone who has done it before! Or... buy one already completed! It's cheaper in the long run in some cases!
there are alot of parts required and cost of labour is high which cancels out the fact the engine is very cheap to buy..
i only drove mine for about 20 minutes when i picked it up lastnight before it started playing up. somethings up in the gearbox and goto get it checked out(but thats off topic)..
i got mine ek done wih a h22a. no aircond but ps still there. I cant really complaint it never had a problem once since i pick it up (its been over a year now). it drives like crazy love it. As you guys metioned there're alot of part to be replace so good workmanship is very important. the mechanics must know what he/she doing . if u want the workshop detail pm me or people thinks im advertising for those guys lol but they're fantastic. As for the H gearbox if u cant afford the H2B get the CL1 Accord type R gear box with closer gear ratios and OEM LSD equipped for about 2000. Ive been in my mechanics 12s EG with H2B. its a beast to drive but i dont know if i can drive around in it everyday lol.
i think through research iv found the only real weakness of the H22 is the gearboxes. ppl say if you start crunching 3rd then gears 5and reverse will go straight away.
I've always found the H22 boxes to be as strong as an ox.
I've driven 2 H22A EG's, 1 a drag car, and 1 a street car. For both applications they are great. The torque of the engine makes it a very easy car to drive on the street.
Most of the problems people have with conversions is not doing it 100% the first time. If you take short cust it will no doubt end in drama. Spend that little bit extra time, effort, and $$$ and you will be rewarded with a nice conversion. never try and do a conversion on the cheap.
