    Ideal OBD2 ECU for boosting

    Hei guys, just doing some researching, I would like to know what ECU'S u guys are running on?

    I did my homework on these few options:

    1. Hondata - great for honda and boost but coz hondata is an obd1 system and my car is 1996 honda accord so it is obd2 (no go 4 pits). + you have to get a socketed ecu i.e. p28 = $$$

    2. E-manage/E-manage ultimate: heard bad reviews and stories on how the fail 2/3. These ecu are limited to their capability of tuning (since they are piggyback) and limited in features (definately less than hondata).

    3. Power FC: limited in tuning capabilities ( i guess better in N/A) cars

    4. Haltech/Motec: Too hardcore, Too expensive, Too broke, Too hard to find tuner, hardly anyone use it for Honda street car

    5. Microtech: reasonable but price is still high up in $2200AUD fitted and tuned....

    Any other suggestions?

    Depends on your tuner but you've pretty much answered your own question havnt you, no fitting, go back to stock whenever you want and nearly all tuners get great results with them.............Hondata or equal factory based system, also, they can be had cheaper and within your budget it seems.

    Hondata do have obd2 systems BTW, they are just abit more costly then using a conversion loom, but in saying that, the ecu is brand new.

    Look around, im sure you'll find them.

    hondata dont have OBDII ECU's they are OBDI with OBDIIa or OBDIIb connectors on them

    Which allow you to use obd2 within the confines of a stock ecu chassis, should he be worried about inspection, thats all i was trying to suggest.

    yeah, i'm like worried about when the inspector plug the scanner to the ecu, Check Engine Light is going to turn on coz the ecu threw out some codes I would love a stand alone though...

    not sure exactly what you mean, but an OBDI ecu will act the same as an OBDIIa or b ecu when you plug into the 3 port DLC connector or the 2 pin SCS. OBDII cars here dont get the OBDII port until 2004.

    I dissagree
    It is just as good and actually has more tunable points, i have one, than hondata.

    The only difference is there is no launch control.
    Simple plug & play with and a hand controller to boot

    Anyone here have or is it possible to pass pits with hondata (on obd2 cars)? do they even plug in a scanner during inspection?

    yeah, i wouldn't have a clue if the obd ports are the same in australia just scared that it will throw a code. tuner said to get AEM EMS but if they do actuallly plug in a scanner it wouldn't read anything (thus fail) coz it's got no obd.

    What state are you in?

    You can get any ECU passed in NSW if you get the right engineer and pass an emissions test.

    Your missing Neptune from your list if you are in a state with a dealer. Yes, you would need a conversion harness.

    Thanks for the Input Guys!! I think I made up my mind, so I'm going to use AEM F/IC, I thought it would be much simpler, don't worry about the crap OBD2 problem...I reckon it should be good enough coz my car isn't going pass 300whp anyways + heard good review on it better than EMU

    Btw, I'll post up the progress once I get the project going (In about few months) and I'll call it 'Accord Duty' (stolen from Civic duty lol)
